Working with Customs
SATG is critically dependant upon cross border trade in raw materials and finished goods. We therefore support efforts aimed at streamlining customs procedures and simplifying the paperwork requirements for cross border transactions.
In our own operations, SATG export guidelines require all exports to comply with the law of the exporting country, and to be fully and accurately documented. SATG is compliance aware and conducts co-operative day to day liason with customs authorities.
Borders that are open to illegal smuggling and counterfeit present a serious problem for legitimate companies like ours, which are committed to compliance with the laws in all countries where they operate. Contraband supplants a significant share of the legitimate sales of our brands, threatens government tax revenues and undermines our brand integrity and goodwill.
Unless laws and customs regulations are universally and strictly enforced, markets are highly vulnerable to the disorderly conditions brought by illegal contraband.
SATG has a strong commercial stake in efforts to counter contraband. SATG engages an internal customs memorandum of understanding. It aims for close customs authorities’ liaison, to harmonise the customs procedures multilaterally and combat contraband of SATG brands.
